Description
Replacement lower tank body shell designed for the Waterway Crystal Water cartridge filter series. This robust body features a durable molded construction, integrated labeling for easy servicing, and is engineered to restore the structural integrity of your filter system when the original tank bottom is cracked, leaking or otherwise compromised.
Compatibility & Fitment
- Fits Waterway Crystal Water cartridge filter assemblies rated at 425 sq ft and 525 sq ft when the lower tank body needs replacement.
- Listed as a direct replacement for older style part number 550-4400 for backward compatibility.
- Ideal for refurbishment of the tank when top shell remains usable but the bottom half shows damage or corrosion.

Installation Notes
Shut off circulation and relieve system pressure before servicing. Remove the clamp or locking ring securing the filter head, detach the top shell, and lift off the old bottom. Inspect the drain plug and threads, then position the new 550-4407 body on the filter base. Secure the head shell and clamp evenly, install cartridge modules if required, fill and pressurize system while checking for leaks at the joint and drain port.
Maintenance Tip
During annual filter service, inspect the tank body shell for signs of cracking, damage from backwash reversals or wall thinning. Replace the body promptly if any deformation is detected, as a compromised shell can lead to catastrophic failure under pressure and result in unscheduled downtime.
