PVC Schedule 40 90° Elbow – 3″ Slip-x-Slip (Part 406-030)
Part Number: 406-030
Description
This is a 3-inch nominal Schedule 40 PVC 90° elbow fitting with slip-x-slip connections, intended for use in pool plumbing systems. It allows a right-angle change in direction while maintaining proper flow and compatibility with standard 3-inch PVC pipe.
Compatibility & Fitment
- Fits 3″ nominal size PVC Schedule 40 pipe (typically ~3.5″ OD) with slip (plain-end) connections.
- Used in return lines, suction lines or general plumbing where a right-angle turn is needed in a pool or spa plumbing system.
- Not for threaded connections or use with CPVC unless explicitly rated for those materials.
Features & Specifications
- Schedule 40 PVC construction – designed for cold-water service and typical pool plumbing pressures.
- Slip-x-slip hub ends for solvent-cement installation (easy glue-in application without thread Mis-alignment).
- White finish, typical length ~5.75″ and outside diameter ~3.94″ for the 3″ size.
- Temperature rating up to ~140 °F (60 °C) for standard service conditions in pool plumbing.
Installation Notes
Cut the 3″ PVC pipe square, deburr the edge and clean both pipe and elbow hub with PVC primer and glue per manufacturer instructions. Insert the pipe fully into each hub socket and hold for 10–30 seconds until initial set. After installation, allow glue to cure per the solvent-cement manufacturer instructions before pressurizing or operating the system.
Maintenance Tip
During routine pool plumbing inspections, verify the elbow joint for signs of leakage, cracking or discoloration. Replace the fitting if pipe misalignment or stress on the joint is causing fatigue. Keeping fittings properly deburred and aligned at installation minimizes future joint stress and helps extend service life.
