Pentair 355301Z Strainer Pot Lid (Clear Pump Lid)
The Pentair 355301Z is a replacement strainer pot lid designed to restore a tight seal on compatible Pentair pump strainer housings. A properly sealing lid helps the pump hold prime, reduces air leaks, and allows quick visual inspection of the strainer basket.
Key Benefits
- Replaces a cracked, warped, or leaking strainer lid to help prevent air from entering the pump
- Clear lid design helps you check basket condition and debris load without opening the housing
- Helps maintain stable pump operation and consistent water flow by supporting proper suction-side sealing
Compatibility
- Fits select Pentair pump strainer pots, commonly including Challenger and Pinnacle families
- Also used on certain Pentair Waterfall / specialty pump applications that share the same strainer lid design
Tip: Match the lid shape and locking/retainer style to your existing strainer pot. If your current lid is still intact, compare it directly to ensure a correct fit.
What’s Included
- 1 × Strainer pot lid (Pentair 355301Z)
Note: The lid gasket / O-ring is typically sold separately unless specifically stated on your listing. Replacing the gasket at the same time is strongly recommended if the old gasket is flattened, cracked, or swollen.
Installation Notes
- Turn off power to the pump at the breaker.
- Relieve pressure in the system and open the strainer housing.
- Clean the lid and housing sealing surfaces (remove sand, debris, and old lubricant buildup).
- Inspect and replace the lid gasket / O-ring if needed.
- Lubricate the gasket lightly with a pool-safe silicone lubricant (do not use petroleum-based grease).
- Install the lid evenly and secure it without over-tightening.
- Restore power and check for air bubbles in the pump lid and leaks around the seal.
When to Replace
- Visible cracks, crazing, or warping
- Persistent air in the pump basket or repeated loss of prime (after verifying gasket condition and plumbing)
- Drips or seepage around the lid seal even with a good gasket
- Lid no longer locks or seats evenly
Maintenance Tips
- Keep the sealing surfaces clean; even small debris can cause suction leaks.
- Re-lubricate the lid gasket lightly during routine basket cleanouts to reduce wear and improve sealing.
- Do not over-tighten the lid—excess force can distort the lid or damage the sealing surfaces.
- Winterizing: drain the pump housing and store the lid/gasket clean and dry to extend service life.
