Vac-Alert VA-2000L SVRS (Safety Vacuum Release System)
Part Number: VA-2000L
Description
A mechanical, non-electrical safety vacuum release system (SVRS) designed for pool and spa suction outlets in suction-lift configurations (where the pump intake is at or above the water surface). It detects sudden high vacuum at a drain or suction outlet and instantaneously breaks the suction by allowing air into the suction line, releasing any entrapment before harm can occur.
Compatibility & Fitment
- Designed for main-drain or suction outlet systems where the circulating pump intake is at or elevated above pool water surface level (suction lift applications).
- Suitable for in-ground residential pools, spas or commercial associations where an SVRS is required by code (such as entrapment prevention mandates).
- Installed on the suction line upstream of the pump, typically between the main drain branch and pump suction.
Features & Specifications
- Mechanical, self-monitoring design — no electronic parts to fail.
- Durable construction using moisture-resistant PVC and stainless steel materials for long service life in pool conditions.
- Field-adjustable sensitivity to handle normal vacuum levels yet trip quickly under entrapment conditions.
- 3-year limited warranty, designed to meet or exceed applicable ANSI/ASME and code requirements for SVRS protection.
Installation Notes
Shut off pump power and isolate the suction line. Install the unit vertically within 5 feet of the pump suction port on the main-drain branch. The unit must be set up so the spring-loaded poppet vents air into the suction line in a vacuum event. After installation, adjust based on normal system vacuum and test the SVRS by simulating a blockage of the main drain(s) to ensure the unit trips and restores suction safely. Field adjustment may be required to match system characteristics.
Maintenance Tip
Include the SVRS in your annual pool service. Inspect for proper reset functionality, absence of corrosion or debris, and verify the vent path is clear. Simulate entrapment conditions per manufacturer guidance to confirm the unit trips correctly—ensuring continuing protection for swimmers and compliance with entrapment safety regulations.
