Installation Notes
Before installation, shut off power and gas to the heater and isolate plumbing. Remove the old union hardware and any damaged fittings. Clean the seating surfaces and apply PVC solvent/primer per manufacturer instructions. Install the new union body, align the union nut and gasket, connect pipe with proper solvent-cement technique, and firmly hand-tighten the union nut until sealed. After installation, restore flow, inspect for leaks at the union, and test the built-in drain port for proper operation.
Maintenance Tip
During annual service, inspect the union connector for cracks, leaks or frost damage at the drain port. Tighten the union nut if needed, ensure the gasket remains pliable, and verify the drain port functions for winterization or service drainage.
