Description
This is a small PVC light niche designed for concrete in-ground pools and spas. It serves as the housing for an underwater light fixture, providing secure mounting, bonding, and sealing in concrete or gunite shells.
Compatibility & Fitment
- Suitable for concrete or gunite pools/spas where a “small” light niche is required.
- Designed for use with compatible Pentair pool lights such as the SpaBrite®, AquaLight® or Amerlite® series where the niche size and hub configuration align.
- For new construction or replacement of damaged/aging niches when shell has been opened or repaired.
Features & Specifications
- Body: Molded of high-strength, corrosion-resistant PVC designed for pool environments.
- Hub: Rear 1″ PVC hub for conduit and wiring connection.
- Included: 45° and ¾″ reducer bushings for adapting conduit runs. Includes gunite/plaster shield for new construction or niche replacement.
- Built-in rebar tie-backs and plaster ring (on gunite model) to assist secure installation in concrete walls.
- Weight: Approx. 2 lbs (per specification sheet).
Installation Notes
Install during pool shell construction or when replacing a niche: cut or form the wall opening, position the niche with tie-backs and plaster ring aligned with interior pool surface, ensure proper alignment and leveling, then secure before finishing the wall. After replaster or finishing, remove the gunite shield and wire the conduit through the 1″ hub. Ensure bonding/grounding lugs are connected per electrical code and light manufacturer instructions.
Maintenance Tip
During annual service of underwater lighting, inspect the niche for cracks, secure mortar bond, and verify the seal between niche and shell is intact. If you observe water intrusion, cracked housing, or compromised conduit paths, a full niche replacement with this unit helps maintain long term safety and serviceability of pool lights.
